The International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) is a Cambridge ESOL exam at levels B2 and C1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is equivalent in level to the Cambridge First Certificate in English and Certificate in Advanced English and assesses language skills in a legal context. Courses are taught using International Legal English (Cambridge University Press with TransLegal) as the coursebook with a range of supplementary materials to develop legal vocabulary and language skills in areas of commercial law including company law, contract law, intellectual property, real property law and sale of goods etc. A key feature of the course is that exam tasks are introduced gradually, giving training in exam strategies, the format of different tasks and guided practice in successful task completion including analysis of sample answers. IPT also includes a number of practice tests in all papers with feedback and guidance by staff with many years of experience in teaching exam preparation courses and examining for Cambridge ESOL.
