IELTS Preparation | Print |

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally recognised system for testing English language skills.  IELTS is recognised by many universities around the world and is also required to support visa / immigration applications – if you want to work or study abroad, an IELTS qualification is essential.  You can also study at more basic levels, perfect for travelling or helping your children with their education.

All candidates are tested in four areas: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.  The Listening and Speaking modules are the same for everyone, but the choice of Reading and Writing modules is determined by the purpose of taking the test:

Academic IELTS:

Suitable for those seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses

General Training IELTS:

Suitable for those going to English-speaking countries to complete their secondary education or to undertake work experience or training programmes not at degree level.  The General Training test is also used for immigration purposes.

We offer courses at different levels depending on your abilities and goals:

Intermediate:

For students already at an Intermediate level of English who are aiming to achieve an overall band score of 5.5 or 6.

Upper Intermediate – Advanced:

For students at Upper Intermediate or Advanced levels who are aiming to achieve an overall band score of 7 or above.

Both levels are offered for Academic or General Training modules separately.

Standard courses

Standard courses at either level last 96 academic hours and include regular speaking interviews and complete practice tests with individual feedback.

Exam Intensive courses

For candidates who need quick test results, our popular, 32 academic hour Exam Intensive courses focus exclusively on exam strategies and techniques, model answers to test questions, speaking interviews and practice tests with individual feedback.
